A prisoner has admitted killing a fellow inmate at Wandsworth prison after attacking a man on Wimbledon Common.
Taras Nykolyn attacked the 66-year-old Wadid Barsoum while in custody ahead of his trial for assaulting Roger Maxwell on Wimbledon Common on June 19, 2014.
When Mr Barsoum died he was charged with his murder.
Today, Nykolyn, 46, previously of Meredith Street, Plaistow, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
He also admitted one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm during the June 19, 2014, attack on Wimbledon Common.

Following the assault, Roger Maxwell, reported to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital with a facial injury and Nykolyn was remanded in custody after initially denying the charge.
He was being held in Wandsworth prison awaiting trial at Kingston Crown Court when Mr Barsoum died in hospital hours after police were called at 7.30am, in May 2015.

Nykolyn put in the plea at the Old Bailey today via video link from prison after a trial was due to start on Monday.
It had been delayed and the time limit for him being held in custody was due to expire today.
He will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, January 22.
