A lorry driver is being quizzed on suspicion of drug-driving after a crash in Mitcham left a pedestrian hospitalised.
The 27 year-old driver from Morden was arrested after a pedestrian collided with the vehicle in London Road, Mitcham, near the Willow Lane industrial estate at 4.20pm yesterday afternoon.
It is the same area where 17 year-old Claudia Landa was fatally hit by a lorry in April last year.
Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and released on police bail until a date in mid December while investigations continue.
Buses and traffic were being diverted around the area yesterday evening as road closures were in place on London Road, Carshalton Road and Goat Road.
The 57 year-old pedestrian’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
