Merton council is already a very expensive place to live with the highest council tax in the uk Now the council appears to be making merton an even more costly The council is consulting on an extension of controlled parking zones in residential areas off Tooting.

Even though at least one local councillor does not support this move it appears to me that the systems in merton are set to generate revenue .systems are systems I was told by a councillor when I said that the last consultation in on CPZ had failed residents- who although had voted it seems for parking in the ABC roads of Tooting were now in the main not buying parking tickets and parking in other roads....pushing the problem elsewhere. I wonder how many residents actually responded to that survey. this is information I have asked d for but not as yet received. There does seem to be a small but vocal group pushing for CPZ. it seems if any local people write a petition to request CPZ that the council has a policy of then pursuing 'consultation' on this. Many local residents I speak to are anxious about the possible extension. It will not only hit residents in the pocket but it is likely to affect local businesses and trades people .
