What would you do with £120m?
This is the money left unspent in the London Mayor’s budget for building new affordable housing.
But the bad news does not stop there: in Merton there are over thirty affordable properties which Mayor Boris, as Chair of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime wants to sell to private developers.
The tenants of Raynesfield on Grand Drive face eviction by the end of 2014, as do those who live at 30 Griffiths Road.
So not only are too few affordable homes being built, but existing ones are under threat.
Shouldn’t these properties be transferred from the Police to a housing association so that they continue to be available to the key workers who keep our public services functioning?

Merton Council, West Barnes ward (Liberal Democrat)
