As someone who was born and raised in Wimbledon, I find it abhorrent that, in 2014, there should be the remotest regard for greyhound racing in the town.
Not only does the practice only loosely - if at all - fall under the auspices of sport (surely the primary raison d'etre is to promote gambling in any case) but cruelty to the animals seems overwhelmingly clear.
I'm not a member of Peta or any such organisation, but merely a 'local' who objects to the promotion of such disreputable activity in the place I call home.
