Paul Dipre has refused to confirm the departure of Ashley Carew, despite Beckenham Town expecting him to make his debut for them this weekend.
Town confirmed their capture of the 26-year-old this morning amid reports the managerless Robins have released six players as part of cost cutting measures at Colston Avenue.
Disgruntled fans - frustrated by a poor start to the campaign under Dipre, who quit two weeks' ago – have demanded answers with a host taking to Twitter and the club’s internet forum to vent their anger.
But Dipre, who will release a statement early next week, has remained tight-lipped as the hunt for his successor continues in the wake of caretaker manager Ian Hazel’s decision to rule himself out of the running.
Dipre said: "We will be releasing a statement at the beginning of next week, I will not say anything else other than that - I don't want the news coming out in dribs and drabs."
