A dramatic additional time winner from Ks striker Bobby Traynor, in front of nearly a thousand fans, cancelled out Sutton's late equalizer in a tense and exciting top of the table.

In a game that was all about getting the best possible play-off berth at the end of the month, Ks who took the lead just before the break.

A measured Mo Harkin chip hit woodwork and then was unluckily turned into his own net by Sutton skipper Jason Goodliffe.

Sutton had the best of the pressure in the second half but Ks backline was at its stingy best, ably led by skipper Adam Thompson.

The visitors' endeavour finally paid off when they deservedly equalised in the 85th minute through sub Charlie Taylor, making amends for an earlier howler.

A draw would have been perfectly fair but Ks went all out for a winner.

Traynor nodded the ball against the bar before going one better in dramatic fashion when he took off down the middle of the park, leaving tired defenders way behind, as Mr Cool slid the ball past stranded keeper Kevin Scriven.

Reminiscent of Ks' late late winner at Aveley last Saturday the referee Michael Rowley blew the final whistle seconds after the restart.

In the first minute it was Sutton winger Craig Dobson who curled in a free-kick from the left into the Ks goalmouth which was comfortable for keeper Rob Tolfrey.

Then the pacy Anthony Joseph's run was stopped by Matt Gray conceding a corner.

Consecutive corners from Dobson were well defended by a clearly motivated Ks backline.

After 14 minutes, Gray's free-kick from way out on the left found an unmarked Traynor but he got his flick all wrong.

After 22 minutes, a dangerous move by Francis Quarm set Joseph free down the right but he thumped the ball wide of the near post.

Four minutes later, Ks striker Carl Wilson-Denis was upended on the edge of the Sutton box.

Gray's free-kick was plucked out of the air by Scriven in a crowded box.

After 30 minutes, Sutton came very close when a Dobson corner was only half-cleared to Alan Pouton outside the Ks box and his powerfully struck drive was cleared off the goalline by Harkin in tandem with Tolfrey at full-stretch.

United defender Billy Hawes sent in a long high free-kick deep into the K's goalmouth where a useful header by Thompson denied lurking striker Steve Watts.

With five minutes to the break, a Dobson free-kick from the right was headed out by a flying Harkin.

Back came the Ks with Gray setting winger Christian Jolley free down the left.

He travelled most of the park, Scriven darted out to narrow the angle but the youngster's low drive was a foot wide from the far post.

With a minute to the break, Harkin sized up an opportunity from the edge of the Sutton box.

His exquisitive chip revealed all of his Football League experience striking the inside of the far post.

JASON GOODLIFFE darted back to clear but unfortunately chested the ball past Scriven who was still semi-prone.

Poulton had a chance for an immediate reply with a free-kick on the edge of the home box but he drove the set-piece into the Ks defensive wall.

Ks started the second period in an attacking frame of mind.

Traynor's cross from the right was just missed by an aerial Wilson-Denis darting in on the far post.

Then a Gray 25 yarder went wide.

A Thompson drive from distance was blocked but Wilson-Denis, just inside the away box, made it it the loose ball first but his rising drive went just over.

United replied with a first-time drive from striker James Hawes, on the edge of the Ks box, which an alert Tolfrey tipped over.

A Gray free-kick from the right found Simon Huckle at full-stretch but he could only head over.

On 67 minutes, United should have drawn level when Watts flicked on a Joseph free-kick to Taylor, a couple of yards out, but he spooned the ball over the bar.

Then a Quarm cross from the right found an unmarked James Hawes on the far post but he headed straight to Tolfrey on his line.

A Huckle flick found Wilson-Denis inside the United box. He turned and unleashed a powerful volley, but it was straight at Scriven.

Watts, outside the Ks box, sent in well-struck, on-target effort that was blocked by Tolfrey at full-stretch.

With five minutes to go ,Sutton were at last rewarded when Watts thundered a drive against a post which rebounded to CHARLIE TAYLOR and this time he made no mistake from close range, sweeping the ball home past a helpless Tolfrey.

Back came Ks, a Harkin cross from the right went through sub Dean Lodge standing on the Sutton penalty spot to Huckle but his low, on-target drive was pushed out by an alert and full-stretch Scriven.

From the Gray corner the ball bobbled in the away box before Traynor nodded the ball against the bar.

In the 94th minute, a powerful header from Thompson on the halfway line sailed through the Sutton backline, BOBBY TRAYNOR's anticipation was deadly.

The striker latched onto the ball, entered the away box and saw the ball home past the stranded Scriven to send the Ks fans behind the goal into seventh heaven.
