Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has warned his strikers must up their game after watching his men take advantage of one of 15 opportunities against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw's 17th minute efforts - his first of the season - eventually proved enough to claim all three points with a 1-0 win over the Latics at Griffin Park.

But Rosler, who hailed goalkeeper Simon Moore's display between the sticks as crucial, insisted the Bees should have gone on to secure a more convincing win.

"Our goalkeeper was our match-winner," he said.

"Under pressure he commanded his six yard box, the way he came out, he showed great presence.

"He also had one save that was magnificent.

"We are creating more chances than anyone else in the league. That’s a fact.

"But the next step is to be more clinical. The main responsibility falls to the striker and I don’t think our strikers can complain about the service.

"Ryan Fredericks was brilliant offensively. He took players on and gave us a real momentum.

"I’m very happy with my strikers. The box player is Farid El-Alagui, the counter-attack player is Clayton Donaldson and the good all-round player is Paul Hayes.

"But overall we are missing too many chances.

"We had 15 chances on target, so the game should have been over. But we’ll work on that."

Brentford travel to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday before hosting Shrewsbury Town and then Crawley Town in back-to-back home games that Rosler admitted could be critical to his side's season.

"This is the start of a period of three home games out of four, that will really help determine where we will be in the table," he added.

"The Oldham win was massively important."

Midfielder Jonathan Douglas and keeper Moore are doubts for the weekend trip having been sent to hospital to have injuries to their hands checked out.
