Twickenham are celebrating promotion to Division One of the Middlesex County Cricket League.

With one match of the season remaining, Twickenham have an unassailable lead at the top of Division Two after their bowling attack blew away Shepherds Bush on Saturday to claim all 10 points.

Parminda Singh was the pick of the attack, taking 4-12, while Maaz Haffeji, Fawad and Rashid Mullahzadah each took two wickets as Shepherds Bush tumbled for 105.

Bush’s bowlers did cause the champions some problems, but although Fawad Mullahzadah’s knock of 23 was the highest on the scorecard, they reached the target inside 41 overs.

Twickenham complete their league campaign at Acton.

Their nearest rivals for the Division Two title, Richmond, have secured the second promotion spot after a four-wicket win at North Middlesex.

Having won the toss, and knowing they needed Twickenham to slip up to have any chance of winning the title, Richmond elected to bowl and Jack Porter took 5-68 as North Middlesex racked up 243-8.

In reply, Richmond recovered from 18-1 thanks to knocks from Kevin Barrett (57), Nicholas Meadows (40) and Alex Griffiths (83no).

The trio saw Richmond across the line with nine balls to spare. They now host Brentham on Saturday.

In Division One, Teddington will be playing for pride after last weekend’s results confirmed they will finish second behind the solitary promotion spot.

Teddington beat Finchley by nine wickets in a ruthless display of bowling and batting.

Nicholas Ellsmore took 5-33 as Finchley struggled to 79 off 29 overs. Joe Austin hit 44 off just 22 deliveries as Teddington made it in the ninth over.

They complete their season at Hampstead on Saturday.
