Surbiton’s five England hockey internationals will be in action for Great Britain next week for the first time since the Beijing Olympics as preparations start in earnest for London 2012.

Richard Alexander, Matt Daly, Ben Hawes, Rob Moore and James Tindall have been training all summer with the national squad.

They take part in a three-game non-capped practice series next week against Japan at the National Sports Centre in Bisham Abbey.

After that, the two teams move to the Highfields Sports Centre in Nottingham to join Germany and New Zealand for a capped four-nations tournament starting on July 12.

Great Britain assume England’s world ranking of sixth, but the final tournament squad won’t be announced until next week because of a number of injury and availability doubts.
