Teddington Swimming Club’s Anna Smail and Sophie Fussell marked their international debuts with four medals at the weekend.
The pair helped England finish second at the Energy Standard Four Nations Cup in Italy at the weekend, where the host nation prevailed in some style.
Fussell, 13, claimed an individual silver medal in the U14 100m breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m breaststroke before capping her efforts with a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay.
Smail, swimming in the same age group, also claimed a silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay, with the 13-year-old clocking the second fastest split for her team [59.1 seconds] in the process.
"The Italy trip was an amazing experience for the young TSC swimmers racing against unknown opponents in an unfamiliar environment," said head coach Ed Sinclair.
"It was a great stepping stone to their international careers and coming away with some medals was a real bonus."
Teddington Swimming Club’s Thalia Poaros claimed London Regional Championships U15 200m butterfly and 800m freestyle gold in the Olympic Pool at Stratford over the weekend.
Clubmates James Adams, 23, and James Petchey, 17, added senior 100m and 1,500m freestyle silver medals, respectively, to the haul for good measure.
Freya Shaw, Yasmine Hamerlaine and Eddie Hunt returned with bronze medals as did the club’s senior men’s and U16 girls’ 4x200m freestyle squads.
