Middleweight boxing champion Kieran Leinster has promised to deliver the performance of his life when he returns to the ring next month.

The exciting undefeated 22-year-old Queensbury Southern Area champion from Teddington will step up in class on February 8 when he challenges Romford’s John Hefford for the vacant Queensbury Boxing League English title at the Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.

St Mary’s University student Leinster has already established his reputation as one of the division’s most exciting stars after disposing of all of his previous challengers since joining the competition a year ago.

But now the man – dubbed ‘Lights Out’ due to his ferocious punching power – will look to cement his position among the division’s elite in the opening round of the competition when he meets fellow undefeated contender Hefford.

“I’m ready to take my career to another level in this fight, and the show’s fans are going to see the best performance of my life,” he said.

“Since my last win back in October I’ve only had a week off from training, and I’ve been hard at it all over Christmas in preparation for this fight, so I’m confident I’ll be fitter, stronger and more prepared than ever to win this belt.

“The English title has a lot of prestige attached to it and it will really mean something to win this belt because it will show people just how far I have come in my boxing.

“For me its now time to show what I can do both as a boxer and a fighter and I’m really confident I’ve got this in the bag.”

Leinster’s title showdown will feature as the co main event for the 14 fight bill in West Sussex, and for further information on the full line up go to queensburyboxing. co.uk
