A Harry Forrester penalty deep in added on time saw Brentford come from behind to grab an important 2-1 win over Coventry City at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.

Forrester had already hauled his side level before confidently banishing the Bees' recent woes from the penalty spot.

Indeed the midfielder had his side's first chance when he fired wide at the back post after Clayton Donaldson crossed from the right within the opening five minutes.

The Bees fell behind to a soft goal when the impressive David McGoldrick latched onto a through ball, skipped past the defence and fired a low shot past Simon Moore from a tight angle on the left.

Brentford bounced back, creating a number of chances during the rest of the first half.

From a Forrester corner on the left Paul Hayes shot over the bar from close range, before his low shot was saved by Murphy.

In between Coventry came close when Jordan Clarke saw Moore make a good save.

Just before the break a great through ball from Adam Forshaw was controlled by Forrester, whose composed finish saw him fire past Joe Murphy.

Early in the second half Hayes nodded down into the path of Jonathan Douglas, who volleyed over.

Hayes was then denied by Murphy who raced out to block a chance at his near post, before Hayes somehow contrived to head over the bar at the back post after a good cross by Donaldson.

At the other end Cody McDonald broke into Brentford's box but was denied by a superbly timed tackle by Shaleum Logan.

With a couple of minutes left Tony Craig made an important tackle to block Carl Baker's shot from the edge of the box.

In stoppage time Donaldson and Logan combined down the right before substitute Jimmy Spencer set up Forrester, who was bundled over inside the box. Forrester then stepped up to send Murphy the wrong way and give his side all three points.
