Fears that "doggers" could return to Surbiton Golf Club have been renewed after new websites have appeared promoting it as a meeting place for sex in cars.

The website Melbourne Doggers gives specific directions to the club in Woodstock Lane, Chessington, and boasted that "although in a middle-class location, all the posh couples are up for it".

Club secretary Chris Cornish admitted it had been a problem a few years ago, including one incident when a child witnessed two people having sex in broad daylight.

The golf club had been advertised as a hot spot on website Swinging Heaven, but after he posted a warning message saying police were making regular patrols he believed the problem had gone away.

No new incidents have been reported in the last two years, but Mr Cornish said he was worried the new website would attract unwelcome visitors.

He said: "It is something that we are concerned about. I will be drawing it to the attention of the local police."

PC Andrew Grapsas, who has been the local officer for the last three years, said it was not a problem he was aware of.

He said: "It's not a remote site. It's not in woodland and it is one where there are people coming and going so I'm surprised.

"We do patrol the golf club regularly anyway.

Anyone caught doing it would be committing a public order offence, although PC Grapsas admitted that doggers were often hard to catch.

He said: "What you find is that if you drive into the car park in a marked car and if you find two or three cars parked up they will quickly drive out as soon as you drive in."
