Elton John has backed Brian Paddick
Elton John has hosted a private dinner party fundraiser for Liberal Democrat mayoral candidate Brian Paddick.
Stars including David Walliams, Kevin Spacey and Christian Slater turned out for the dinner hosted by Sir Elton and his partner David Furnish.
Mr Paddick - who was the Met's most senior gay officer ahead of retiring last year - said no money was collected on the night but Sir Elton would be writing to guests later asking for support.
The singer is reported to have already made a significant contribution to Mr Paddick's campaign as he takes on Labour incumbent Ken Livingstone and Conservative candidate Boris Johnson.
