Hollywood star Nicolas Cage's latest flick National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets is being filmed at Richmond Theatre today.

The location will be used as the backdrop for a scene depicting Abraham Lincoln's assassination in the big budget sequel.

The cast and crew will be in Richmond for one day on the closed set.

"We are used as the location for a lot of films, adverts and photo shoots," said a spokeswoman for Richmond Theatre.

"The biggest star to film here recently was Johnny Depp in Finding Neverland and the latest Minstrels ad was also shot here."

In National Treasure 2, Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Gates who sets out on a global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures.

When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben's great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's death.

Determined to prove his ancestor's innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Jon Turteltaub and directed by Turteltaub, the story reunites the original cast including Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Jon Voight.

Ed Harris, Harvey Keitel and Brit Helen Mirren also star.
