A TV vet who sailed down the Thames in a giant dog bowl has completed the challenge.

Joe Inglis, who appeared on BBC One's Vets in Practice and spent four years as Blue Peter's vet, took the trip to raise cash for charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

And to keep him company he was joined by his hound, Jack.

He began the 150-mile trip at noon on July 3 at Cricklade in Wiltshire and finished in Putney nine days later.

The bowl, christened The Mutty Bark, was made from an old cattle drinking trough.

"This was a challenge and I didn't think through the implications of rowing a round bowl," said Joe.

"I fleetingly thought about rowing across the channel but, after nine days onboard, I decided against it."
