Molesey Boat Club welcomed its own stellar athletes to its boat naming ceremony and balloon release.
Simon Fieldhouse and Acer Nethercott, both current Great Britain rowers, as well as Andy Hodge, world coxless fours champion and promising Olympian, were on hand on Sunday last week to see the club christen five new boats.
Simon Jordan of Hampton's of Esher represented the significance of Hampton's large contribution to the purchase of the new junior boats.
Along with the aid of a Sportsmatch contribution, the club was able to launch £52,000 of new equipment to promote the continuing excellence of the club.
The boat-naming ceremony was shortly followed by a release of 1,000 balloons in the club's black and white colours. The owner of the balloon that travels the furthest will win a prize.
