Much-needed cash is being sought from businesses by a school to pay for extra-curricular trips and new books.

Pupils at Singlegate Primary School, in Colliers Wood, are staging a Sporty Summer Fair in June, featuring a mini-Olympics, but organisers have said they need business to stump up some funding.

Laura Andrews, from Friends of Singlegate School, said: “Recent projects have included buying new books for the library and funding school trips and workshops which inspire the children in their learning.

“With the building of an extension to the school premises well under way, the money we raise will be more important than ever."

The fair, on Saturday, June 23, will feature a prize raffle and stalls held by businesses.

Ms Andrews said she hoped to break last year’s fundraising record of £4,000.

Businesses which have already pledged support are Mansell, the construction company building the school’s extension, as well as the Early Learning Centre, Mothercare, and estate agents SW19 and Eddison White.

Businesses interested in donating prizes or booking a stall should contact Ms Andrews on 07815 780808.
