Footage of looters streaming through broken shutters at PC World on August 8 has been released.

CCTV footage showing hundreds of looters stealing flat-screen televisions and electronic goods from the retail unit was shown on BBC’s Crimewatch on Thursday, September 22, as police continue to ask the public for help in identifying criminals.

Commander Steve Rodhouse, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "My message to those involved in the disorder and criminality is that you will not get away with it. We have a huge team working on this investigation and we will find you.

"The investigation is a huge challenge and one we will continue to tackle for some time to come. I want to reassure London's communities that we are committed to proactively targeting the people involved and will continue to ensure justice is done.

The 19-second clip, sped up, sees the bottom section of the security shutters broken and hundreds of looters forcing their way in.

Later they appear to bottleneck as those carrying stolen goods try to force their way out against the tide of more looters.

The coverage comes as the number of people arrested has exceeded 2,500 with more than 1,500 charges so far.

There have now been a total of 2,632 arrests for a variety of offences, with 1,536 charged.

A total of 304 people have been sentenced for their part in the disorder with 81 receiving a custodial sentence.

Commander Rodhouse said: “We need your help to identify those who were responsible for the crimes that blighted London's communities last month.

"I urge anyone with any information to come forward."

He said police had about 100,000 hours of CCTV to view and had forensic teams working on more than 1,200 crime scenes.
