Following a toast of juice to the happy couple, schoolchildren tucked into a special lunch during a day of Royal Wedding-themed learning.
Before having lunch at tables arranged in W and C shapes (for Prince William and Catherine Middleton), children at Hall School Wimbledon, based in The Downs, sat in normal lessons with a nationalistic flavour.
Maths classes included studying the geometry of the shapes within the Union Jack, while younger students flexed their literary ability by composing a Royal Wedding diary.
The school’s headteacher, Timothy Hobbs, said: “The Royal Wedding is a great opportunity for a whole school celebration of an important national event.
“We have marked previous occasions with garden parties, including the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 and VE Day in 1995.
“The bunting will be back out again next year for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee!”
