By Ms M. McGovern, Aboyne Drive, Raynes Park

Open letter to Councillor Linda Scott

We, on Aboyne Drive and the adjoining roads, use the park to walk along the public footpath from our road, under the A3 into the park to the main gate at the other end, do where the cars park.

This was always a very pleasant walk: clean and fresh without any dangerous, broken glass, plastics etc.

Now we have broken glass, plastic bottles food containers and black plastic sacks, thrown across the fence.

Such rubbish with household stuff is an eyesore and shouldn’t be allowed.

We have written to the environment office at Merton Civic Centre but with no action or communication. So we are now hoping that you can look into this matter and have this rubbish taken away so that it becomes a pleasant park to walk in again.

It is well used, therefore we expect users to respect it and the workmen there, although part-time, that we should be asking for support to take away these plastic sacks (full black household bags) are the plastic and the clubhouse should take an interest in that users should be informed to take home rubbish out by their cars and not the opposite.

We have also asked the council and water board to do something with the flooding at the main gates, that when it rains it lodges there so that you cannot walk through it.

There must be a way to dislodge the water, this has happened when they took away the brook (waterway) inside the bowling green that took the water.

There’s more time and money spent on the bowling green than any other part.

It would be good to get our lovely park back to how it used to be without any rubbish, plastics, glass, water-free and an enjoyable space to walk.

All the children use it for going to school. We should be showing them by example.
