A group of fundraising explorers have designed a new version of the classic board game Monopoly to show people their planned route for a 24-hour cycle around London’s landmarks.

“Nepalopoly “ was the brainchild of three members of the Wimbledon Edge Hill Explorer Scout Unit.

Dominic Morgan, 16, Sebastien Matthews, 16 and Joseph Stone, 16 all from Wimbledon College, are due to start the challenge at 5am on Wednesday.

The trip is to support the unit's bi-annual expedition which will see 54 intrepid scouts head to Nepal in July to build a centre for deaf and mute children in Nuwakot, 70km from Kathmandu.

They also plan to visit Bhaktapur to help children of Nepalese prisoners and assist in a re-forestation project.

The unit visits Nepal about every four years because the leaders have strong connections with the area. The estimated cost of the trip is £2,100 per member.

Dominic said: “We had a huge list of fundraising ideas at the start of the year and we decided on the cycle because it was different and we were all interested in doing it.

“Others did prohibition nights, quiz nights, wrote to the Nepalese embassy and different things.”
