Government officials are urging Network Rail to launch a website to help people report acts of vandalism and graffiti at Merton railway stations.
Caroline Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly transport spokesperson, discovered the extent of the problem during her visit to the embankment by Raynes Park station.
Ms Pidgeon said: “You shouldn’t have to be a transport expert to get rubbish and graffiti removed from your neighbourhood.”
Currently residents can report problems on their streets on the website fixmystreet.co.uk.
Now Ms Pidgeon would like to see a similar service for train station users.
She added: “Too often people see rubbish and graffiti at a station but simply don’t know who to contact to report the problem.”
