Firefighters have extinguished a Kingston town centre blaze which broke out in lift shaft.
The fire, which began at around 11am, started in the lift shaft of Travelodge currently being constructed at International House, Weatfield Way.
Nearby stores including an Argos and a Lidl were evacuated by police and London Fire Brigade, but they have now been reopened.
Roads surrounding the scene were also closed while firefighters battled the blaze but they too have now been reopened.
