Police have confirmed that a huge armed operation in Wimbledon this morning was caused by men with what turned out to be toy guns.
Armed police were called to Wimbledon station at 9am this morning after a member of the public saw a man "acting strangely" and "in possession of an item believed to be a firearm" on a train from Clapham Junction.
Police then swarmed on Lower Downs Road at 9.30am, closing the road as they moved into Dennis Park Crescent.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a class B drug at 10.47am.
As of 6.30pm he remained in custody at a London police station.
Police also released an image of a second man they were looked for who was travelling with the first man on the train.
This man, thought to be in his 30s, was arrested in Kingston this evening. At the time of his arrest he was carrying both toy guns pictured.
A spokesman for Merton police said: "Although this time it was not an actual weapon, we would like to thank the member of public who called it in originally. It is better to call something in, than us miss an actual weapon.
"We appreciate everyone's calls and assistance with this matter. We would also like to thank everyone for their patience with some of the closures this morning."
