There have been three suspected attempted child abductions in the borough in the past week.

No one has been harmed during any of the reported incidents, which have all occurred since Tuesday, June 7 in Wimbledon and Raynes Park.

Merton police say the descriptions of the vehicles and drivers given by the children involved have all been different, and involved both male and female drivers.

On Tuesday, June 7, it was reported that a man in a minibus attempted to abduct a young boy as he walked to Kings College Junior School in Wimbledon Village at around 8am.

The driver, reported to be around 60-years-old, is said to have repeatedly tried to persuade the boy to board the empty minibus at the intersection of Church Road and Burghley Road, but the boy refused.

Police say they have increased patrols around Wimbledon and Raynes Park, and are working with local authority partners to ensure appropriate personal safety advice is available to schools in the area.

The police have not provided any details about the other two attempted abductions

Two incidents of children being approached and offered lifts by a man have also been reported in Kingston.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101.
