The Wimbledon Guardian launched the petition against disruption to the town centre on Friday after news parts of the town centre would be demolished to make way for Crossrail 2.
The petition has attracted 1,057 signatures pleading with Network Rail and Transport for London to re-think plans set to take ten years to complete.
The word has even reached Australia, with several people living there pledging their support, as well as Merton and Wandsworth residents concerned about the plans.
