A teenager has picked up an award to celebrate her enthusiasm and hard work after being put forward by her peers.

Amy Phillips, 16, a young leader at 2nd Wimbledon Guides, was delighted to receive an award for her enthusiasm, reliability and helpfulness after fellow guides nominated her.

She joined a total of 86 guides from ten districts in south and west London which includes Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wimbledon, to receive Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at a special annual ceremony.

The event honoured achievement award winners aged 11 to 25 years-old who received medallions, a framed certificate and a cheque for £200.

They were nominated by their peers and leaders, winning awards for a variety of achievements but mostly for doing their best.

Eleven adults were also celebrated with leader awards who have demonstrated, in an outstanding way, an ability to motivate young people. They received a medallion and a framed certificate.

Founder, Jack Petchey CBE, aged 89, said “I am passionate about our awards scheme which enables young people to be recognised, valued and rewarded for their achievements and positive contributions to society.”

The awards were held in Chessington on Thursday, April 30.
