A police worker known for being a vocal campaigner for the transgender community has denied attempting to murder her brother.

Helen Doe, 53, of Montgomery Close, Mitcham, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, July 5, after allegedly assaulting Kenneth Doe, 64.

London Ambulance was called to an address in Montgomery Close at about 2.50am and treated Mr Doe for a head injury.

He was taken to a south London hospital as a priority and was later discharged.

Appearing at Kingston Crown Court yesterday, Helen Doe denied attempted murder.

Doe is understood to have been working for the Metropolitan Police Uniform Services in Mandela Way, off Old Kent Road, at the time of her arrest.

She is a member of Croydon Trans Group and appeared in a Time Out feature in January 2013 describing how she changed her gender identity.

She is due to return to Kingston Crown Court for trial on Tuesday, May 26.
