A thug who robbed two women at gunpoint has been jailed for eight years.

Kieron Rowe, 26, from Wimbledon Broadway, held a gun to a woman’s head in a Tooting street in July last year.

It was about 6.30pm when he approached the woman, in her late 40s, who was walking home alone. He walked past her, turned around and pointed a handgun a foot from her skull.

He pushed her against some bushes and when she screamed said he would shoot her if she did not keep quiet. He snatched her handbag from her arm and fled.

A few days later, at about 11.30pm, he cycled up to a woman walking from Tooting Broadway station.

Rowe cycled past her, stopped and pointed a gun at her chest, demanding her bag.

She did not have any cash so he demanded her bank cards and PIN number, which she gave.

He told her to come with him to the cash point but as he walked back to his bike the victim managed to run away.

Rowe stole £700 from her account before the cards could be cancelled.

Detectives from Wandsworth CID soon realised Rowe was responsible after the second victim noted he had a basket on the front of his bike.

Little did Rowe know, but a Police Community Support Officer had seen him riding around on the bike a few months previously and had made a note.

He was sentenced to eight years, on Tuesday, January 18, at Kingston Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to two armed robberies.

Detective Constable Aled Thomas of Wandsworth CID said: “This man terrified two women with a handgun for his own selfish gain. The long sentence he received is totally justified and should warn others of the consequences of gun crime.

“I would like to thank both victims; it was only with their cooperation that we could bring this man to justice. I would also like to thank our PCSO colleague, whose vigilance helped us swiftly identify Rowe as the person responsible.”
