Just what every morning rush hour commuter wants on a hot summer morning on Friday - being crammed into a confined space while your train is delayed.

That was what faced passengers at Wimbledon station this morning after a broken down train at New Malden caused disruption on the SouthWest Trains network.

The delays caused queues to form from the platforms, up to the stairs, right up to the ticket barriers as temperatures reached 23 degrees Celsuis at about 8.30am.

Passengers tweeted these pictures:

Too many people who want to get to work at 9am. Why not leave earlier to avoid the crowds or later if possible?

On another note, this just highlights the foolishness of people who are so against the cross rail project and extra transport capacity and infrastructure.
