A man was rushed to hospital after drinking alcoholic hand gel this morning.

London Ambulance Service was called to Wimbledon Tesco in The Broadway just before 8.30am after the man was found collapsed outside the supermarket.

The man, reported to be in his mid 30s, was taken to St George's Hospital, Tooting.

This actually happens quiet a lot actually, some hospital trusts have even removed them from the bed sides for this very reason. It has also begin known for people to steal them from ambulances outside A&E or from hospitals for the same reason
