A sailing student has landed his dream job at sea on a 56m yacht cruising the Mediterranean as part of an apprenticeship.
Sean Nathan, of Whitethorn Avenue, Coulsdon, began his training last October after being selected for a cadetship by the youth and maritime training charity UKSA.
The 22-year-old former John Fisher School pupil won the top cadet award for the first phase of his apprenticeship and is hopeful for the rest of the course.
He said: "Winning the award and landing my first proper deck job pretty quickly are the icing on the cake."
His role is of a deckhand as he continues his training for a career on superyachts.
The apprenticeship runs alongside a foundation degree in operational yacht science.
