A 50-year-old man was fined for stealing £25 worth of steak at a Tesco self-scan checkout.

He paid for the cheap items on the self-scan at the Beverley Way store in Mitcham but placed the expensive items in the bag without paying.

The shoplifter was fined £100 by police at about 1pm yesterday.

Police said they issued the fine instead of arresting him to save time and money in prosecution costs.

Why hasn't this person been named and shamed, ohers in the same situation are?
Also, there is no Beverley Way in Mitcham, the only Beverley Way I know of is in New Malden
More sloppy reporting I guess.
