A person has died after being hit by a train at Wimbledon station.
Paramedics and officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and Metropolitan Police were called at just after 10pm last night to reports of a person being struck by the Weymouth to London Waterloo service.
A BTP spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to Wimbledon station on Saturday [February 22] at 10.06pm, following a report a person was hit by a train.
"Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are on going to establish the identity of the person and inform the family.
"The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious, and the line was handed back to network rail at 11.20pm."
Several people on Twitter reported seeing a man jump in front of the train as it passed.
The incident caused severe delays to all services in and out of the station, with journey times on some lines being extended by up to 90 minutes.
