While staff at Thomas Cook travel agents on Wimbledon Hill Road were distracted by customers at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, January 22, the charity box was pinched from a counter top.
Police believe this man may have crucial information that would assist officers in solving the crime.
Detective Sergeant Grant Donnachie, of Wimbledon CID, said: "While any incident of reported crime is of a concern to police; for someone to steal money specifically intended for those less fortunate in today's society is especially saddening.
"The stolen money, totalling £350, was raised by the efforts of the Thomas Cook staff and was intended for use by disadvantaged children.
"Ultimately it is those children who regrettably now lose out through no fault of their own."
