For some, Grandma’s old recipes inspire tasty, hearty, dinners that are reminiscent of childhood memories, but for Dominique Baptiste is was dog’s dinners.
The 23-year-old, from Mitcham has created a new brand of gourmet dog food based on 40-year-old recipes created to feed the family Golden Retriever, Bruno, from her grandma.
When Miss Baptiste’s own Bichon Frise, Teddy, was put on a special diet after several costly visits to the vets, she decided to create a new range of dog food which contained human grade meat.
Starting in her own kitchen, Miss Baptiste used Teddy fellow Bichon Frise Lu as taste testers and has had the recipes checked by a pet nutritionist.
Miss Baptiste hopes to sell the Teddy and Lu range at Ocado and local pet boutiques for around £1.50.
