Merton will be holding a number of remembrance services this November to honour the borough’s armed forces and fallen heroes.
A civic event will be held on Friday, November 9, at 10.50am at the Clock Tower in Fair Green, Mitcham, and outside the Civic Centre in London Road, Morden attended by the Mayor, Councillor David Williams, deputy mayor, Councillor John Bowcott, leaders of all political parties and Merton’s chief executive.
On Sunday, November 11, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be attending a series of services.
Mayor of Merton, Councillor David Williams said: "I hope all residents and local people can attend a service closest to them to pay tribute to the millions of men and women who lost their lives during the two world wars.
"We also remember those who are still overseas and those who have fallen in the recent conflicts."
Services will be held at :-
• Nelson Hospital forecourt, Kingston Road - 9am.
• St Lawrence’s Church, London Road, Morden - 10.30am
• Mitcham War Memorial, Lower Green West, Mitcham - 10.40am.
• Wimbledon War Memorial, Wimbledon Village - 10.40am.
