Touch KO, a boxing sim on the iPhone and iPod Touch which I reviewed very positively a few weeks back, has just had its first big update.
In my review I praised what the developers had achieved from a technical point of view and also said how much I loved the style of the game.
However, I also raised a few gameplay issues which needed to be ironed out.
It seems a good number of these things have been sorted in the version 1.1 update.
The game features a new hard mode with a steeper difficulty ramp and new AI. This goes some way to sorting the problem of the game being too easy.
You can also now pause the game by tapping the timer, while tapping the screen allows you to skip slow-mo replays after you or your opponent has been knocked down.
Combos are more powerful now, and a couple of bugs have been fixed.
It’s good to see these improvements to the game. There’s a little bit more work to be done on the game but this update is definitely a big step in the right direction.
Today I’ve picked up a newly released boxing game called Down 4 The Count from Handmark. It’s described as having a more casual style similar to old arcade titles like Punch Out. I’ll let you know what I think of it soon.
