Classics from Queen, Bon Jovi and Gloria Gaynor are no longer being lovingly murdered in karaoke bars. Instead have-a-go singers are trying to perform tracks by Taylor Swift, One Direction and Amy Winehouse, according to a survey of 2,000 people aged between 18 and 34 carried out by Pringles.
A Pringles spokesperson said: “There’s only so many times you can listen to I Will Survive, Bohemian Rhapsody and Livin’ On A Prayer, so it’s great that they’re being replaced by brilliant new songs.”
If you’re wondering why Pringles is getting all curious about our karaoke habits then it might not come as a surprise they’ve got a promo running this summer where people can convert a Pringles tube into a karaoke mic and speaker. (We admit it, we’re curious).
Anyway, here’s that list in full. Top marks if you can get through *without* ending up with an earworm.
10 – Price Tag, Jessie J
9 – Love Me Like You Do, Ellie Goulding
8 – Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen
7 – Rehab, Amy Winehouse
6 – What Makes You Beautiful, One Direction
5 – Uptown Funk, Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
4 – Happy, Pharrell
3 – Shake It Off, Taylor Swift
2 – Let it Go, Idina Menzelv
1 – I Gotta Feeling, Black Eyed Peas
Right, we’re off to rehearse.
