Liam Neeson has revealed he wasn’t sure about doing a third Taken film.

The 62-year-old star has reprised his action role as retired CIA agent Bryan Mills in the third instalment, alongside Forest Whitaker, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace. He previously said the second film would be the last movie in the series.

“I was a bit dubious about Taken 2 and I was certainly dubious about the third one, and then they presented the script with this very interesting storyline, where Bryan Mills is the hunted instead of hunting,” he said.

“I thought that was a nice twist, so here we are. I think it is a cool movie and I’m very proud of it.”

Taken 3, directed by Olivier Megaton, sees Bryan attempt to clear his name after being framed for the murder of his wife Lenore (Famke). It has been billed as the final instalment in the Taken trilogy.

Former boxer Liam, who does his own fighting in the films, said it didn’t take long to jump back into Bryan mode.

“I did a couple of thrillers after the second one. So I was in fighting mode,” the actor said. “It was fairly easy to put on the Bryan Mills jacket again and sort the bad guys out.”

“I’ve always done my own fighting. I (enjoy the violence) with the Taken movies because there’s always a great emotional heart to the story… It’s not just action for its own sake, and that I couldn’t do,” he continued.

“Just action for its own sake is boring. But (the writers) have always produced a good storyline to warrant a bit of violence towards these guys.”
