A campaign to spur on Londoners to join the fight against climate change has been launched.

A recent survey conducted by Ipsos MORI found that only two in five people in England and Wales are taking actions to tackle climate change. Disappointingly, the figure fell to one in four for the South East of England and just one in five for London.

From June 5, a series of posters which echo scenes from fictional end of the world movies like 2004's "The Day after Tomorrow", have been encouraging people to take green action.

Lydia Wyeth, lead organiser for the campaign in the Thames area, said: "Despite high profile attention on climate change prompted by both fictional end of the world movies, many people still aren't connecting the things that they do in every day life with our changing climate.

"We hope to heighten awareness of the ways that every home, school, group and business can mend the world, by encouraging as many participants as possible to take part in an online survey at www.mendoftheworld.org."
