Many residents of the various boroughs served by the Wimbledon Guardian came to the United Kingdom to work in the 60s and 70s and are now approaching retirement.

I wonder if they are aware that if they decide to retire to certain countries in the world, the state pension which they believed they had secured through their National Insurance contributions could be frozen and never increase with inflation if they choose to move to certain countries ( mostly in the Commonwealth) while not in certain others.

This discriminatory policy also affects all seniors who would like to move to be closer to their children and grandchildren in their retirement.

Every person who leaves the UK in retirement saves the NHS considerable costs as well as additional old age related "freebies" worth considerably more than the cost of an indexed pension, while also freeing up valuable housing stock.

It is time that this issue be finally resolved, enabling all who have paid their NI dues to receive the full pension they deserve in retirement.
