London Scottish director of rugby Mike Friday has quit the club after watching his side crash out of the Championship play-offs last week.

Scottish lost the second leg of their semi-final at Worcester Warriors 38-15 to exit the competition 65-37 on aggregate.

the result extinguished any faint hope London Welsh had of remaining in the Premiership, which hinged on their neighbours lifting the title.

“With my other rugby and business interests, it is not sustainable for me to continue in the role and do the club justice,” he said calling time on a 19-month spell at the Athletic Ground that started with him as backs coach.

“I will look on with interest to see how the settled squad goes. I’m confident they will be contenders for a top four finish once again.”

Chairman Sir David Reid added: "On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Mike for his invaluable contribution over the last 19 months.

"The club has made great strides forward during his time at London Scottish and we wish him all the very best in his future business and rugby pursuits."

Meanwhile, Scottish signed Plymouth Albion lock Neale Patrick this week as they beef up for another tilt at securing top flight rugby next term.
