Alan Pardew insists that while managing England is the “pinnacle for any Englishman’s career”, he is purely focussed on Crystal Palace.

Pardew has been one of various names linked to the England job after Sam Allardyce left the role after just one game in charge.

Former West Ham and Sunderland boss Allardyce resigned in a mutual agreement with the FA after the Daily Telegraph filmed him advising undercover reporters how to “get around” player transfer rules.

Pardew, 55, is quoted by ITV as saying: “Eddie Howe said this morning it was the pinnacle for any Englishman’s career, I agree with that.

“I’m so lucky to have this football club where it is right now, the chairman and I have a great relationship. They have shown me great faith and I have a team I have a good feeling about.

“This football club at this time is where I want to be. It holds a special place for me as I played here, that is where my focus is entirely right now.”

After a slow start to the Premier League campaign, Pardew’s side have won their last three league games.

The Eagles will be hoping to extend their impressive run at Everton on Friday night.
