Ivan Toney’s twelfth goal of the season gave Brentford the West London bragging rights  as they ran out 2-1 victors over QPR at the Community Stadium.

The forward's second half header gave Thomas Frank’s side the points after Lyndon Dykes cancelled out Vitaly Janelt’s first goal for the club.

Mark Warburton’s side finished the game with ten men after Todd Kane’s late dismissal, but the the former Bees' boss will feel aggrieved the hosts didn't lose a man of their own before the break.

Victory ends a successful week for the Bees who now sit fourth in the league.

Against The Run Of Play

The visitors dominated possession in the early stages and it was against the run of play that Frank’s men went ahead on 15 minutes.

A deep cross found its way to Rico Henry on the left who teed up Janelt to arrow a low drive past Hoops keeper Seny Dieng to open his Bees account.

Midfielder Emiliano Marcondes should’ve doubled the lead moments later but failed to capitalise on Dieng’s poor clearance as he saw his shot parried wide.

The miss proved costly as the Hoops deservedly levelled midway through the half.

A swift counter saw Bright Osayi-Samuel’s perfect delivery thrashed home from six yards by Rangers forward Dykes.

Bees’ defender Mads Bech Sorensen may count himself lucky after referee Matthew Donohue deemed his foul on the goal bound Dykes only worthy of a yellow despite the appeals from the visiting.

Early Changes

Frank shuffled his pack at the at the break introducing Mathias Jensen and skipper Pontus Jansson, and it looked to have injected belief and confidence in his side.

Ivan Toney thought he’d re-established the lead on the hour but the Bees’ top scorer saw his effort scratched for a questionable off-side.

Rangers’ reprieve was short lived however as Toney notched his 12th of the season five minutes later, glancing home Marcondes’ inviting free-kick.

Chasing the game the visitors went on the search for another equaliser, but no sooner did Warburton’s side look to have a foothold, they were down to 10-men as Kane picked up a second yellow for a reckless challenge in Marcus Forss.

Despite the man advantage, it was the Bees who were pushed deeper but the visitors in truth failed to test David Raya as the Bees held on for the West London bragging rights.
