Birmingham City are set to decide soon on whether to offer trialist Josh McEachran a permanent deal.

The midfielder, 26, has been training with the club after his contract with Brentford expired this past summer.

It ended a four-year association with the club, having made 101 appearances for the Bees after he made the permanent switch from Chelsea in 2015.

In a pre-match press conference, Clotet said: "We want to give him some more time to assess him, I’ll give it until the end of next week and then I will give my judgement to the club on Josh.

"Then it is up to them to decide on what happens with that situation."

McEachran also trained with Sheffield Wednesday this past offseason but was not offered a permanent deal by the club.

The former Chelsea youngster headlined a list of five players who were released by Brentford in June, including Yoann Barbet and Lewis Macleod.

Barbet would controversially join fierce rivals Queens Park Rangers, and Macleod was snapped up by fellow Championship side Wigan Athletic.

Meanwhile, Jack Bonham and Moses Odubajo signed with Gillingham and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
