AFC Wimbledon completed the loan signings of Marcus Forss, Ryan Delaney, and Max Sanders on Monday’s transfer deadline day.

Forss and Sanders join on season long loans from Brentford and Brighton respectively whilst Delaney moves from Rochdale on loan until January.

Winger Dylan Connolly will be leaving the club for the season after joining League Two’s Bradford.

Manager Wally Downes moved to reinforce his side after a poor start to the campaign, registering two draws in their opening six games leaving them two from bottom of League One.

“Marcus (Forss) is a young player who will come into the fray,” said the manager on the 20-year-old.

“He’s very quick and has an eye for goal.

“They tell me that in training he’s right up there with the best finishers that Brentford have got.

“He’s not a traditional big number nine, everyone is after big centre forwards and they cost a bit.

“Marcus is fine in the air, but he has attributes that are different to a traditional number nine.

“In particular, he is quick, and he scores goals.”

Wimbledon Times:

Midfielder Saunders, 20, arrives after captaining Brighton’s under23 side and in many ways it’s seen as a homecoming as he represented the AFC Wimbledon Academy at under 7s.

"Max is a very accomplished footballer,” Downes continued.

“He can pass the ball very well and he dictates the pace of a game. He links play up and he's a very talented boy. He's young and hungry, he wants to come and play. I'd love to get him in the team, but it's up to him to get in the side."

Centre back Delaney was drafted in as cover for the injured Rod McDonald, and Downes believes his experience will be vital in his absence.

“Ryan has played two seasons with Rochdale and he knows the division,” he said.

“He has proved himself at this level, Rochdale had a couple of tough decisions when they were involved in relegation battles and he played through them.

“He has just not been able to get in the side this year.

“Games are a priority for him and he needs to be trying to get into our team now."

The Dons face Brighton under-21 in the EFL Cup on Tuesday where Forss is the only one of the three new signings that could feature on the bench according to Downes.
