Yoann Barbet is set to leave Brentford, it has been confirmed.

The 25-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer, made his last appearance for the club in a goalless draw with Wigan Athletic on March 30.

He wasn’t in the 18-man squad for the final game of the season against Preston North End, which the Bees won 4-0, and ends his Brentford spell with having made 118 appearances.

Thomas Frank says the team has a solid foundation and now it’s about strengthening it in the summer, with a potential replacement for Barbet to come.

“I think we have a strong foundation,” he said. “I think we have a strong starting 11 and some good subs, and it's about strengthening the squad and there are a few positions that we need to improve.

“Yoann Barbet is not here anymore, so we'll potentially need another defender, for the rest we'll try to make it as strong as possible [the squad].”

Barbet made his debut for Brentford under Marinus Dijkhuizen in April 2015, when the Bees lost 4-0 to Oxford United in the League Cup.

He would make his league debut a month later against Middlesbrough, a game in which the Bees were defeated 3-1.
